Thirty Fifth APEC Transportation Working Group Meeting, Bangkok, Thailand, 20-24 February 2012 Background 2/2 Promotion through national infrastructural projects In 2002, “The e-Taiwan Program” was adopted as a key component of the "Challenge 2008: the 6-Year National Development Plan", ITS projects were under e-Life which is one of the five core initiatives: e-Infrastructure, e-Government, e-Industry, e-Life, and e-Opportunity. In 2009 and 2010, “The Intelligent Taiwan Projects” and “The i-Taiwan 12 Projects” were launched. ITS master plans’ development in Chinese Taipei The 2001 version and 2004 version. Currently new version is under development, and the draft one is expected to be delivered in 2012. TPT-WG35, Bangkok, Thailand

Thirty Fifth APEC Transportation Working Group Meeting, Bangkok, Thailand, 20-24 February 2012 “We will continue to adopt innovative concepts to develop low carbon intelligent transport systems that are both user friendly and environmentally friendly” According to Ministerial guidelines, the visions and goals of the draft version of 2012 ITS Master Plan are Visions Establish a sustainable and human-oriented transportation environment Goals To achieve the goals, “Economic Efficiency”, “Social Welfare”, “Environmentally Friendly”, and “Industrial Development” are the themes to develop ITS.
