  2. Birth place • Lorenzo de Zavala was born in the village of tecoh in what is now the state of Yuctan, Mexico on October 3, 1789. He lived for exactly 47 years from October 3, 1789 to November 15, 1836.

  3. Parents and education • Young Zavala`s parents were crillos, Spaniards of Basque decent born in the colonies. Lorenzo`s grandfather`s name was Simon Felipe Antonio de Zavala y Marin. Zavala`s parents names were Anastasio de Zavala y Velazquez, and Maria Barbara Saenz y Castro.
