  4. Education without Technology • Before the advancement of technology in schools, the process of educating was slow. The teacher stood before at a chalkboard and wrote out all problems, assignments and homework. • The materials needed for class were a #2 pencil, paper, the text book and basic calculator. • Students used the Card Catalogs in the Library to find books to write research papers. Those research papers were typed out on a Typewriter.

Education with Technology • With the Advancement of Technology in classrooms and the Internet, teachers and students are no longer confined to their school or library. • With the advancement in technology, teachers are able to use a variety of sources to increase the quality of the education. • Students are also able to effectively use the internet for homework and research.

  8. Education with Technology • The Internet is arguably the greatest technological invention of all time. The explosion of the Internet and its capabilities has provided a resource to teachers that just a generation ago was unimaginable. • A mounted LCD projector allows a teacher the opportunity to share activities, videos, Power Point presentations, etc. from their computer with the whole class. In the technological age an LCD projector is a must have in a classroom. It is a powerful tool, because it allows a single computer to become a powerful tool in a large group setting. • A document camera works in conjunction with your LCD projector. A document camera essentially has taken the place of the old overhead projectors. With a document camera, you no longer need transparencies. • Smart boards are becoming increasingly popular. A smart board takes the place of a traditional chalk board or white board.

  10. Education Technology Concerns • With the advancement of any technology, comes concerns. For example: • Cost, Quality and Available Equipment • Plagiarism, Cheating • Parental and Community Objections • Knowledge, Time and Willingness to adapt

  12. The Future of Educational Technology • The Future of Educational Technology is limitless. With the emergence of Distant Learning, E-Courses, Blogs and Social media students and teachers have a luxury that was not available to past generations. • Schools like the University of Phoenix will become more popular with college students and professors. • The future is bright for Educational Technology.
