  2. Project Goals • Improve medical database system using new technologies • Focus on flexible, shareable, scaleable, domain independent architecture • Development of models for • data validation, • data integration and storage, • data extraction and analysis

Increasing data point and table (Scalability, Extensibility, Flexibility) Add-hoc data validation and management (Scalability, Extensibility, Flexibility) Inefficient data acquisition- slow and expensive query through recursive and cross referencing (Availability) Abnormal/primitive data integration (Integrability) No data access control (Security) Local representation and no standardization (Interoperability, Exchangeability, Sharability) Stumbling blocks: Making the old way faster is the right thing? Legacy technology makes it hard to build system Overcome the limitations
