Online Resources • Objective: To introduce various online resources available for your student’s career search • GCHS Website: www.grantbulldogs.org • Career Cruising: www.careercruising.com • Username: grant • Password: community • Naviance: http://connection.naviance.com/grantchs • Username: First and last name with no spaces. Example: Jane Doe would enter janedoe • Password: Student ID Number

What is Career Cruising? Career Cruising is an online career and college exploration and planning tool used by your son or daughter to explore career and college options and develop a career plan. Career Cruising can be accessed from school, home, or wherever your son or daughter has access to the Internet.

Components of Career Cruising • ASSESSMENTS: tools to help your child identify his or her career interests, skills, and learning style • CAREER PROFILES: Thorough and up-to-date information about hundreds of different occupations, including direct links between careers and related college programs • MULTIMEDIA INTERVIEWS: Interviews with people in each occupation • COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY, AND APPRENTICESHIP INFORMATION: Detailed information on post­secondary education and training options • EMPLOYMENT GUIDE: Advice for all stages of the job search process, including developing a job search plan, networking, writing resumes and cover letters, preparing for interviews, and adjusting to a new job • PORTFOLIO: An online portfolio where your child can develop and reflect on his or her academic, personal, and career exploration activities, and make plans for the future • RESUME BUILDER: Integrated with the portfolio to help your child create, format, and print professional­-looking resumes quickly and easily

Career Cruising Activity • Under the careers tab, search a career • What level of education is required? • What are the typical earnings in this occupation? • Find 3 related careers • Are videos / interviews available? • Where can you find a sample high school course path for this career? • Where can you find the occupational outlook on this career?

  10. What is Naviance? • Naviance is a web-based college and career readiness program that can help your student connect academic achievement to post-high school goals • Naviance helps students research and track: • Careers • Colleges • College Applications • Scholarships • Resume

  11. How do I log in? • Go to this web address: http://connection.naviance.com/grantchs

  12. Enter “Email” • Under Email, enter your student’s first and last name with no spaces. Example: Jane Doe would enter JaneDoe. If your student has more than one first name, enter his/her first first name. If your student has more than one last name, enter his/her first last name.

  13. Enter Password • Your Password is your student’s Student ID number

  14. Careers Tab • Click on the Careers Tab

Naviance Activity • Under the careers tab, search a career on the left-hand side of the page • Check out the Overview, Knowledge & Skills, Tasks & Activities, and Wages • Are videos available? • Find related college majors, and click on “find colleges” • If your student is college-bound, under the Colleges tab, you can explore “SuperMatch” college search
