  4. Where am I going? How do I get there? • Four-year college • Two-year community college • Technical College • Apprenticeship program (earn as you learn!) • 13th year work, travel, community service • Military service (all males required to register for selective service by their 18th birthday)

  12. Go visit a college … • Do I feel welcome and at home here? • Is this what I pictured my college experience to be? • How are the dorms? The food? The climate? • Talk to current students – are they happy? Can they get into their majors? • Use spring break and summer vacation wisely – applications are due next fall and it will be here before you know it!

  17. Other Assessments • Compass – Placement exam for students attending community and technical colleges • ASVAB - April 26th (register with Mrs. Crisler) • ASVAB-Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. Measures abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success.

  18. What are apprenticeships? • An apprenticeship is a training program in which you work and go to school to learn a trade. The average beginning wage is $14.95/hr. • EXAMPLES: building and construction trades, carpentry, heating and air conditioning, plumbers and pipefitters, electricians, machinists, roofers • http://Apprenticeship.LNI.wa.gov
