  6. GEARING FOR REHABILITATION • Total Backlog: 15 181 posts • Current Actual Establishment: 33 494 posts

  7. PAROLE BOARDS PAROLE BOARDS Implementation within the ambit of current approved 52 boards which will consist of 52 Chairpersons (DD level) and 104 members from the community.

  8. PROJECTED PRISONER POPULATION • The cost of the option was based on: • the direct and indirect incarceration costs, • rehabilitation costs and • the variance between the financed offender population vs the projected offender population.

  9. NEW PRISONS – PERSONNEL & OPERATIONAL COSTS • Date of occupation by the Department is 01/10/2005 • 4 new Type-3000 prisons.
