  5. Wearing Ribbons & Devices Objective: Instruct students how to assemble and wear their ribbons.

  6. OAK LEAF CLUSTERS • Additional awards of ribbons initially awarded will be indicated by the addition of bronze or silver clusters. • Wear a maximum of four devices on each ribbon.

  7. OAK LEAF CLUSTERS • Place silver clusters to the wearer’s right of bronze devices. • Replace the bronze device with a silver device after receipt of the fifth bronze device. Place clusters horizontally and tilt slightly downward to the wearer’s right to allow maximum number of clusters and other devices on the ribbon.

  8. OAK LEAF CLUSTERS Place clusters horizontally and tilt slightly downward to the wearer’s right to allow maximum number of clusters and other devices on the ribbon. Tilt all or none. If all devices do not fit on a single ribbon, wear a second ribbon.

  9. OAK LEAF CLUSTERS When future awards reduce devices to a single ribbon, remove the second ribbon. When wearing four clusters and another award of the ribbon is received remove the four clusters and replace with a silver cluster

  10. OAK LEAF CLUSTERS • Place silver devices to the wearer’s right of bronze devices. • Replace the bronze device with a silver device after receipt of the fifth bronze device.

  11. OAK LEAF CLUSTERS Individual clusters are evenly spaced and tilted slightly. Ganged clusters are centered on ribbon.

  12. SILVER STARS Center the star on the ribbon Attach the star so that a single point is pointing to the top

  13. Which ribbon goes where? • Ribbons go on the wearer’s left side. • Check your ribbon chart and ensure you position the ribbon properly on your uniform • You have one ribbon; Wearing it shouldn’t be a problem. Example: Activity Ribbon. Blue goes to center of chest.

Example 1 • Ribbons awarded to you: Outstanding Flight, Service, & Activity. • How do you arrange them? • Refer to the Ribbon Chart. • Which ribbon is held in greater importance? • Outstanding Flight, Service, and Activity. • Now arrange them on a 3-ribbon bar. Outstanding Flight Service Activity
