  3. The Handiwork of God We begin with a bold, but confident statement God is the Creator of all things Why can we make this statement?

  4. Creation is a Theme God has made Himself known as Creator to peoples of all ages through His handiwork in the heavens and earth.

  5. Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.

  20. A Stumbling Block Evolution worldview The philosophy of evolution has become one of the major stumbling blocks to people accepting God’s Word. Even for many in the church it has become “the great compromise” with the world. Is there any solution to this stumbling block?

  21. The Solution • The solution is found in the power of God’s Word to convict people’s hearts • Does this mean we should just preach Jesus?

  22. Commands • We are commanded to teach others the Word of God (Matthew 28:18-20) • We are also told that all Scripture is useful for teaching (2 Tim 3:16) • We are commanded to have a ready answer for what we believe (1 Peter 3:15)

  27. Good News There is evidence that demands a Creator This evidence: Refutes the assumption of materialism and evolutionism, including chemical and biological evolution. Establishes there is an omniscient, omnipotent Creator God, and uses His creation (science and logic), to establish that the Bible is His message to mankind.

  28. Information What is it? (a definition) Where is it used? How did it originate? Why is it important?

  29. The Meaning of Evolution The materialist worldview (evolutionism) holds to the presupposition that all that exists is mass and energy (matter). This is the basis for evolution (cosmic, chemical and biological) This is a reasonable worldview if the underlying presupposition is true (materialism)

  30. But what if the universe consists of more than just mass and energy? Information is the key What is information?

Scientific Definitions Effective communication, in any language, requires that words have precise definitions • Be precise and very clear • Include all of the distinguishing attributes or properties of the entity • Exclude everything that lacks at least one of these attributes A definition must: Evolution: Change over time

Information In order to understand information we need to begin by establishing a precise definition Dr. Werner Gitt (former Professor and Director of Information Processing at the Institute of Physics and Technology in Braunschweig, Germany) in his book “In the Beginning Was Information” describes information as having four attributes: (code, meaning, action, and purpose).

  35. Definition of Information An encoded, symbolic representation of material realities or conceptual relationships conveying expected action and intended purpose.
