    3. MAC’s Mission Strengthen CALD communities’ capacity to develop and support the aged and community care needs of their older people. Support and assist service providers to give older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds the services of their choice. Advise governments, peak bodies and mainstream organisations on the aged and community care needs of older people in CALD communities

    4. MAC’s Core Business Developing community capacity Promoting partnerships Developing agency and worker networks Facilitating communication and information exchange between government and CALD communities Providing learning and training opportunities

Assistance to Service Providers Understand the issues affecting older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Acquire the knowledge, understanding, skills and competencies to deliver culturally inclusive services. Develop resources on culturally appropriate aged care Provide culturally appropriate aged care services to older people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Library The MAC Library has a comprehensive collection of resources focussing on issues for aging and cultural diversity (cultural briefings, elder abuse, mental health), aged residential and community care, volunteers, translations, LOTE, general health and wellbeing, diversional therapy activities and leisure. Materials that are available for loan include, books, videos, training materials, CD’s, DVD’s, audio visual equipment, music, video kits, and over 50 journals and newsletters.
