  7. Hello There! Now that you know what the buttons mean we can start having fun! Today we are going to review and learn about numbers. Numbers are very important! We use numbers to count how many pieces of pizza there are, how many students are in a classroom, to measure how big our feet are, to see how much something costs, and even to count how many pieces of candy we get at Halloween! Before we go on our adventure, let’s do some REVIEW to see what you know.

  8. Main Menu ADVENTURE REVIEW FINAL QUIZ

  9. Addition Can you help me count my candy cane trees? I have 7 on the left… How many do I have all together? See if you’re correct on the next page …and I have 5 on the right

  10. Did You Get It Right? 7+5=12 You know this is true because when you put the two rows of trees together and count off, there is a total of twelve trees.

  11. SUBTRACTION Now that I have 12 trees, what would happen if I cut down 4 trees to use for fire wood? This black line cuts through the 4 trees I am cutting down to give you a picture of what is happening.

  12. Did You Get It Right? 12-4=8 Great Job if you got it right! Did it help to draw a line through the ones you were deleting? If you cross out or erase the objects that are being taken away then all you have to do is count the remaining objects!

  13. MULTIPLICATION If I have those 8 trees in one row, but I want to have 3 equal rows of 8, how many trees will I have total? 8 + 8 + 8 Think of multiplication as repeated addition.

  14. Did You Get It Right? 8x3=24 If you think of multiplying 8 by 3 as 8+8+8 then it is much easier to count it out. As seen on the page before, you have 24 trees. Do you think you could divide those? Try on the next page.

  15. DIVISION I need to cut down all my trees in the winter. If I make 4 piles from my 24 trees, how many trees will be in each pile? For division, either repeat subtracting the number until they’re all gone or by making groups. Here, make 4 groups because you are dividing by 4.

  16. Did You Get It Right? 24/4=6 If you counted the number of trees in each oval then you would see how it makes sense that this is true. You could have also taken away 4 at a time until you had 0. 24-4=20 -4=16 -4=12 -4=8 -4=4 -4=0 Then count the how many fours you took away. You took away 6.

  17. Wow, Great Job!!! Thanks for helping me see what I need to do with my candy cane trees! Now that we have reviewed, I think you’re ready to start on your Adventure!Click on the answer you think is correct for each problem. See You Later!

  18. A Little Message For you…Click on the Video

  19. OH NO! I can’t believe Lord Licorice is holding King Kandy hostage! You’ll have to stop by and meet all of the characters and help them to get the next colored square and move on. I’ll go with you so I can give you hints and we can save King Kandy together! Click the Home button, hopefully this time you won’t be interrupted by Lord Licorice and his evil schemes.

  20. Plumpy Here… Do you think you could help me out? Here is my Problem… My niece and nephew are coming over today to help me pick plums. If Jonah can pick 5 plums in one hour and Kasey can pick 4 plums in one hour and I can pick 7 plums in one hour, how many plums will we pick altogether in one hour? 22 17 16

  21. Fantastic! Jonah Kasey Plumpy 5+4+7=16 Thanks! Here is your card to move on….you can move two blue spaces! Goodbye!

  22. Oh No! MUWAHAHAHAHA!!! Looks like you’re having some trouble…Now you’re stuck in my licorice trap! You better go back and try again… Not that it’ll help! Ha!

  23. HINT Draw a picture of circles to represent the plums. Then count them off on your fingers.

  24. Wow! We Get To Cross the Rainbow Bridge! How Lucky that we landed on this shortcut! How about we get a little practice as we cross over? Hmmm…..what could we do? Oh, I know…..Try this….

  25. We have walked across 6 rectangles. We have walked across 1/3 of the bridge. How many rectangles are on the whole bridge? 12 18 20

  26. OOPS! That’s ok….that’s why we’re practicing! At least we didn’t get stuck in licorice for getting it wrong. Go back and try again, I know you can do it! Look at the hint if you need help!

  27. HINT First think of what math system you need to use. You can either divide by one third, or you can change it to multiplication by flipping the fraction! 3/1 Which is 6x3….. 6x

  28. YAY! There are 18 rectangles on the Rainbow Bridge! That means we only have to cross 12 more! Let’s Get Going…Keep up the good work!

  29. Jolly Here… On your way up to the castle? I’ll help you along if you can help me figure this out. Here is my problem…. I have 32 gumdrops. I have an even number of four different colors; I have orange ones, green ones, red ones, and yellow ones. My brother wants to know how many green gumdrops I have. What should I tell him? 8 12 6

  30. HINT Make four circles that represent the four different colors. Take one gumdrop away at a time and put them into the four different groups. Repeat this until all 32 gumdrops are in a circle. Count how many are in one circle; that represents how many of each color you have.

  31. INCORRECT! HA! MUHAHAHAHAHA! Oh! Paying my licorice trap a nice little visit I see! HaHa!Better go back and try again!

  32. WOOHOO! That’s Right! 32/4=8 Thanks for the help! You can have this card, it’ll move you all the way to the next yellow spot.

  33. Gramma Nutt Here… Oh, hello Dearie! Could you solve this for me? Here is my problem… I am bringing some cookies I made to a party. I made 47 cookies but there are only going to be 22 people at the party. How many extra cookies did I make? 28 25 31

  34. WRONG!!! MUHAHAHAHA! Give it another try….I bet you can get it this time….Hahahaha…. King Candy really needs you!

  35. HINT Draw a circle to represent each cookie that Gramma Nut made. Make a mark through each cookie to represent the person who will eat that cookie. Count the leftover circles, that’s your answer!

  36. JUST WONDERFUL! I would have 25 extra cookies, because 47-22=25 Thank you so much for helping me, Dearie! Here is your card to move on…double green spaces because you were extra helpful!

  37. Princess Lolly Here… I’m so pleased to meet you…I would be ever so grateful if you could give me a hand! Here is my problem…. I am going to be turning nine years old soon and I get to have a birthday party! My mother said I could invite 5 friends from each different activity I am involved in. I am in ballet, gymnastics, and swimming. How many people am I allowed to invite? 15 12 20

  38. HINT If she is in 3 groups and can invite 5 from each you need to multiply. Multiply 5 by 3. This is the same as adding 5 together 3 times.

  39. Way To Go! You are super smart! 5x3=15 swimming gymnastics ballet Wow! I better go make some invitations…Here is your card! A double purple. That’s my favorite color!

  40. NOPE! MUHAHAHAHA! You are going so slow! HA! You’re just wasting time…. Better go back and try again if you want to help Princess Lolly’s Dad!

  41. Queen Frostine Here… Thank you so much for helping my daughter, now maybe you could give me a hand. Here is my problem… I have 12 baby swans who cannot swim yet, but they need to get to the other side of the lake. The Mama swan can carry 3 baby swans back, across the lake in one trip. How many trips will the Mama swan swan have to make to get all of her her babies on the other side? 6 4 8

  42. HINT Draw the picture. Take away three at a time and count the number of groups you have in the end. The number of groups is the same as the number of trips the Mama swan will have to make.

  43. Too Bad! MUHAHAHAHAHA! Well, Well, Well…..Stuck in a licorice trap, I see…HA! Go back and try again….Hurry! HA!

  44. Excellent! • You are quite right! 12/3=4 Thanks, sweetheart! Here is your card… Orange!

  45. Gloppy Here… Hey, could you help me out? Here is my problem… My cousins are coming over to watch a movie tonight. I know that I own 18 DVDs. However, 3 are broken, 5 are being borrowed, and 4 are lost. How many DVDs could my cousins And I possibly watch? 6 7 9

  46. UM….NO!!!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA! No, No, No…..That is so wrong! Go look at the clue if you need to. Your precious King is running out of time! Try Again!

  47. HINT Go ahead and add all of the smaller numbers you are subtracting together. Subtract that total number from the total number of DVDs

  48. Hooray! Now I can tell my cousins, 18-(3+5+4)=6 broken borrowed lost available I can’t wait for movie night! Thanks for everything. Here is a double red card…that should get you all the way to Candy Castle

  49. We reached the castle….what’s this?

  50. COME ON! Just like King Kandy said, you can do this! You have had lots of practice, just remember what we’ve practiced… Go take the quiz and we’ll go get the king together! Good Luck!
