  2. Announcements • When submitting assignments, make sure your name, lab section, and assignment# are in the subject line • Ex. Subject: Kevin Eng, Lab section 14, 25, 27, 31 Assignment1 • If it is just a question please type Question in the subject line • E. Subject: Question • Next week there will be an attendance quiz on you ability to access pegasus, it will count for 1 attendance point

Announcements • You must submit your first assignment (the zero tolerance policy/self paragraph) through pegasus, after that you may submit assignments via any email account at your disposal • No class September 2nd (Monday night lab only section 14) • No sign in sheet, assigned seats will be done next class. • Assignment 1 is due next week

  4. What is Putty? • UCF has decided to drop the Telnet client due to virus attacks. • You may download putty for home use for free at: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html • Once you have downloaded and installed this application, you may click “Start”and then “Run” and type putty

  5. OK, I got Putty and opened it • Type the “machine name” you are accessing which would be: pegasus.cc.ucf.edu • Login like we discussed last week • For a refresher see the next slide

  6. This is what it may look like SunOs 5.8 login: Type you NID Password: Type your password PYYMMDD Choose a new password. Enter login password: Same PYYMMDD New password: select a new password Re-enter new password: new password

  7. Ok, I’m in…now what? • Once you login you are looking good. In order for us to create a web page for you, you need to create the public_html folder so you can upload your web page. • At the pegasus prompt, type homepagesetup Pegasus% homepagesetup • That is all, congratulations

Assignment 1 • Copy and paste the zero tolerance policy into your email, and include a paragraph about yourself, why you are here, and what you hope to accomplish/learn in this class • You must use pegasus to submit this assignment, you may use the web mail system: https://pegasus.cc.ucf.edu/webmail

  9. Next week • Assignment 1 is due next week by midnight of your lab day. • There is an attendance quiz next week on pegasus. • Intro to HTML, read over your html code guide that came in your book packets
