  2. Franchising is the Granting of sole selling rights within a given Geographical area. • The Franchising company supplies equipment or raw materials for a licensee who either pays a franchise fee or a percentage of turnover

  3. Generally franchises are distinguised by three characteristics :- • The Franchiser owns a trade or service and licenses it to Franchisees in return for royalty payments • The Franchisee pays for part of the system This is normally in two parts :- i) One as initial fee ii) Second as service fee on turnover on monthly or quarterly basis III. The Franchiser provides its franchisee with marketing & operations system for doing business.

  4. Why companies go for Franchising???Franchisingis beneficial to both Franchiser & Franchisee Benefits to Franchiser (company) are => • Covering new territory • Hard work of persons who are Entrepreneurs rather than employees • The Franchisee’s familarity with local community and conditions.

  5. Why people opt for Franchisee ??? • Buying into a proven business with a well known and accepted brand name • Receiving support in areas of Marketing, Advertising, Site selection, Training/Staffing etc… • Borrowing money from banks becomes easier

  6. Franchising is most frequently found in • Service Retailing • Automotive Industry i.e. Sales & Service ( Hyundai Motors) • Education Sector i.e. like NIIT, APTECH • Retail Catering i.e. like KFC, McDonald’s, King Vadapao

  7. The Most common Problems In Franchising Business are :- • Franchiser enroaching on Franchisees’ territory by bringing in another Franchisee in the same locality • Exaggerated claim of support by franchiser • High failure rate
