  1. Today 8:30-9:00 9:00-10:15 10:30-11:45 Sharan and friends on the ELL learner

  2. Recap • 3 stages • Determination record established at IPRC • IEP developed from determination record • Acc/mod • Legal responsibilities…

  3. Recap Unit plan • One per group of 4!!! • Starts from a solid lesson • Has a big question, big task…that ties all the various lessons and strands together • Each of the Oral, Writing and Arts pieces have summative assessments and 4 lessons to get them there (2 for arts) • Each of the strands have 2 learning skills tacked on • Formatives are assumed but could be mentioned

  4. Media Literacy • 1. demonstrate an understanding of a variety of media texts; • 2. identify some media forms and explain how the conventions and techniques associated with them are used to create meaning; • 3. create a variety of media texts for different purposes and audiences, using appropriate forms, conventions, and techniques; • 4. reflect on and identify their strengths as media interpreters and creators, areas for improvement, and the strategies they found most helpful in understanding and creating media texts.

  5. New Specific Expectations! • Top 5 new media (social) that kids need to be familiar with • What techniques and conventions do these various media use to convey/distort meaning. What would you teach the kids about each type of media in terms of techniques and conventions • Create an assessment framework for each that kids would get when they make their version of the media…Use the techniques and conventions from above…

  6. Example • Media-Twitter • Convey/distort meaning-type of font used • Assessment (hard part, see hand out)

  7. Resource Critique • 1500 words • APA style for references • Choose a ‘resource’, you have used or seen used • From the professional literature, can include course readings • Critique along the lines of…balance literacy, differentiation, ESL/ELD, boys literacy, learning skills…

  8. Double Loop Reflection (Individual) • Chris Argyris, Donald Schon (MIT), Gareth Morgan • If learning involves the detection and correction of error…Single loop learning corrects the error inside the current governing variables • Double loop learning questions the governing variables as a potential source of the error, as well • This is where you are showing me some ways you might evolve your craft…if only in theory! • Individuals will turn in a paper for this piece…

  9. Evolved Optional Assignment • Arts based with assessment • Ideally this is something that has evolved through the practicum and through further learning… • I would like you to discuss what has evolved as well as actually have the exemplar and assessment piece ready to go

  10. Next week • Lesson plan • Puppet • presentation
