  1. *Landforms are natural structures on Earth’s surface. * Landforms can be formed by fast or slow changes to Earth. * Fast changes include volcano, earthquake, flood, tidal wave, landslide and sink hole. * Slow changes include the formation of deltas, canyons, valleys, sand dunes, buttes, mountains, and arches. * Slow changes can take from hundreds to millions of years. Weathering, Erosion, and Deposition are the processes that cause landform creation. *. Wind, water and ice are the agents of change that cause weathering, erosion, and deposition

  2. Use your notes to make a T-chart that classifies fast and slow changes to Earth’s surface. • 2. Make an icon for each of the following that will help you remember what it is. • Weathering • Erosion • Deposition • Wind* • Water * • Ice • * An icon for these as they relate to landforms Make a T-chart or another graphic organizer to show how landforms are formed in a similar way.

  3. Metacognition • Describe the result of the delta formation lab. • What caused the formation? • What force was at work? • What water feature created the delta? • Where was the delta formed? • In the lab on the formation of a delta, what did each of the following parts of the set-up represent in the real world? (use your lab sheet for help if you need it) • Bottom tray: • Slanted tray: • Sand: • Water shaker: 3. Where does the soil in the delta come from ? Describe the result of the delta formation lab. Be sure to include the following words: Erosion, deposition, river, ocean, delta, sediment In the lab on The Effects of Glaciers on Land, which landform was created by the scraping of the glacier? What was the effect on the surface of the land?

  4. Metacognition • In the lab on the formation of a delta, what did each of the following parts of the set-up represent? • Bottom tray: ocean • Slanted tray: mountain / Earth’s surface • Sand: sediment • Water shaker: rain • Describe the result of the delta formation lab. • What caused the formation? Erosion / deposition • What force was at work? gravity • What water feature created the delta? river • Where was the delta formed? end of the river / ocean Where does the soil in the delta come from ? Mountain / river bed / sides In the lab on The Effects of Glaciers on Land, which landform was created by the scraping of the glacier?U-shaped valley What was the effect on the surface of the land? Scraped and gouged the bedrock
