Ross, ADA/ATPassisted by Mr. Kareem Forbes Mr. Forbes is an information technology specialist who works as an ATACP certified Assistive Technology Assistant at the Virgin Islands University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (VIUCEDD) at UVI. Dr. Ross is an ADA/ATACP certified training consultant specializing in assistive technology, teacher training/ education and health for USA, Caribbean, Africa and Asia programs and projects.

  4. Let’s Begin • Please turn on your iPads • If you have a laptop, sync it with your iPad.

  5. Sync Your iPad and Your Computer • You can use your data connection cord to connect your iPad and computer to sync info like contacts and calendar settings. Before you can use iTunes to sync, you have to download the software and, if you want to make purchases from the store, open an iTunes account.

  6. Sync Your iPad and Your Computer cont’d • With iTunes installed on your computer and an iTunes account set up, follow these simple steps to sync to your iPad: • Plug the data connection cord into your iPad. • Plug the other end of the data connection cord into your computer.

  37. PDF and ePub • PDF is portable document format. It was created by Adobe and is the universal standard for document exchange on the Web. • ePub is electronic publication. It is an open standard format. With the right software program and some basic design skills, anyone can create an ePub formatted ebook.

  38. How to Open PDF files directly on your iPad A PDF file you find on the web will open in Safari on your iPad and can then be transferred to the iBooks app on your iPad. 1. Make sure the free iBooks app is on your iPad.2. PDF document opens in Safari on your iPad.3. Tap once on the document.
