Asthma in Childhood • In the UK responsible for the largest number of disability adjusted life years lost of any single childhood chronic illness • There is conflicting evidence on prevalence but in 2008/09 4,460 children in TH. • There are preventable deaths from Asthma • Only 3% of children have written plans to prevent and manage exacerbations

  3. Asthma prevalence aged 0-19 registered with a GP – 2008/09 Prevalence - weighted average of the practice prevalence weighted by registered practice population in each ward
