  2. Approach • KDAX • Extracted value of reflectivity over CZC from the 1.5o or 1.3o tilt of KDAX, depending on VCP in use (0.5o tilt is blocked by terrain). Sometimes the actual elevation angle of the beam over CZC differed from the fixed angle by 0.1o-0.2o. • Calculated Gaussian-weighted mean of SPROF reflectivity over the vertical extent of KDAX beam as defined by the actual elevation angle of the beam. (1.5o is ~3.5-5.7 km MSL and 1.3o is ~3.0-5.2 km MSL) • Paired observations closest in time to each other • KMUX • Same as KDAX, but using 0.5o beam (0.5o is ~3.5-6.8 km MSL) • JWD • Calculated reflectivity from dead-time-corrected JWD DSD averaged over 2 minutes. • Extracted SPROF gate 2 reflectivity and averaged over corresponding JWD 2-minute sampling period.
