Characteristics • Concerned with ethical reform and attacks corruption • Makes vice laughable • NOT A SERMON!!! • Attacks general types not specific people: • The fool, the clown, the proud, the vain • If it attacks a person by name, its goal is to prevent our approval of that person • Satire uses extremes to make its audience aware of spiritual and ethical dangers
