  1. The Awesome, the Wonderful, Chinese Ice and Snow Festival By Riley Shapiro and Jordan Small

  2. Introduction Have you ever heard of the Chinese Ice and Snow Festival? Well we have, and it is a beautiful Winter Wonderland. The festival includes lights, activities, and more fun to enjoy. This Ice and Snow Festival attracts about more than 800,000 people every year! There are so many beautiful lights, you feel like your in time square. If you want to learn more, read on!

  3. Activities Activities Includes Ice slide Lantern show Amazing sculptures Winter swimming… and more fun to enjoy These activities are probably more fun then you think they will be. This festival includes: -> We suggest you rethink going down the Ice slide, because you may lose feeling in your bottom for almost a week. Activities are very interesting at the Chinese Ice and Snow Festival.

  4. Process of making sculptures This process is a little tricky to follow. Competitors have huge blocks of ice from the Songhua River to start the process, which is carving the blocks into big sculptures with saws and knives. It will take a long time for this process to be done. Steps • 1). You get big blocks of ice. • 2). Carve your sculpture • 3). Present your sculpture. • 4). Enjoy!!!!!!

  5. Dates In 1963, the 1st Chinese Ice and Snow Festival was held. This festival was interrupted for many years. It was resumed in 1985. This festival starts around January 5th, and goes until about mid- February, depending on the weather. Now that you know about the dates, why don’t you think about coming to the festival.

  6. Decorations The most important decoration at the festival is the LED lights. The LED lights are the most important because those are the lights that help the other lights light up too. As you’re walking by keep your eye out for AMAZMENT! Some of the most magnificent memories come from the decorations.

  7. Sculptures Here at the ice and snow festival there are many different sculptures. The sculptures are the big point of the festival, if the sculptures were not at the festival, what’s the whole point of the festival? All the sculptures were made by the competitors. If you want to learn more, go to our process page. At the 2012 Chinese Ice and Snow Festival, some competitor sculpted PSY, while doing Gangnam Style.

  8. Lights These lights are very beautiful. It is not often that you see lights like these. These lights are the LED lights, that light up the whole entire festival. These lights go along with the HUGE LED T.V screen. The lights are even on Trees! Most people like these lights, so we hope you do.
