Remit “The overall aim of the ICT Strategic Plan is to enable colleges, departments, faculties and divisions to offer their users the best and most cost-effective ICT services and resources, to ensure that local ICT investment results in maximum benefits and to provide the best possible environment and support for academic life within the University of Oxford.” (2)

ICT Strategy Implementation -- Phase 2 Conclusions Appendix A: ICT Investment – Five Year Roadmap Appendix B: Terms of Reference of the PRAC Sub-Cttee Structure Appendix C: Role and Responsibilities of the Director of ICT Appendix D: Organisation Structure for ICT Projects Appendix E: Scenarios for Success Appendix F: Glossary Appendix G: Consultations and References • First two Sections describe the current state of ICT services across the University and provide the context for the recommendations which follow • Sections 3-5 set out the case for ICT change in Oxford • In order to effect this change, a new structure for the governance of ICT is required, which includes the creation of a new sub-committee of PRAC and a new post of Director of ICT; Section 6 • Assuming that a new structure and the other recommendations are approved, it will then be necessary to move on to the implementation of the plan; Section 7 Creation of ICT Forum Online document – accessible by paragraph (4)

PRAC Response (1) PRAC approved the ICT Strategic Plan, as a working document, endorsed the underlying principles, and stated that its implementation should be under the authority of PRAC • Did not consider recommendation-by-recommendation • Supported overall as ‘working document’ • Endorsed underlying principles • Strong support from Internal Auditors (5)

  6. PRAC Response (2) PRAC approved the creation of a new governance structure, with a PRAC ICT Sub-Committee operating  along the lines of the Buildings and Estates Sub-Committee, which Ewan McKendrick will chair • Since the last meeting of PRAC, PVC has been preparing a paper for the forthcoming meeting of Council GPC which proposes the ToR and membership of the PRAC ICT Sub-Committee • Likely to be some differences compared to Plan • It is anticipated that the new ICT Governance will take effect from MT 2007 • ICTC was informed last week that it had had its last meeting (6)

  7. PRAC Response (3) PRAC supported the post of ICT Director; the details of the post are still under discussion • Expecting to hear very soon … (7)
