  1. FETS & Design study summary by JürgenPozimski PASI OsC meeting 13thJuly 2012

  2. FETS - Status • Ion source • Plasma investigations show first results, further progress to achieve all FETS goals simultaneously within the next two years expected. • LEBT • Alignment problem persits, little experimental time in the last 3 month. • RFQ • No further delays since manufacturing started • Testing of structure prepared, High power setup ready for commissioning mid 2013. • MEBT • Engineering effort started, Lattice under review. • Diagnostics • Conventional diagnostics in good shape, • Laser diagnostics benefits from RHUL contribution.

  3. NF design - Status • IDS - NF • Swift adoption of baseline to consequences of Daya Bay results. Delivery of RDR on track. • EUROnu • Delivery of final report scheduled for September, input for CERN strategy and PRST-AB articles in preparation, first costing (12.5 GeV). • UKNF • Harwell site as alternative to CERN in EUROnu report. • High impact on FE design. • Championing LENF with final acceleration using FFAG. • Leading Decay ring effort. • Leading costing effort. • High impact from ASTeC engineering.

  4. FETS – plans overview

  5. RFQ - plans

  6. MEBT - plans

  7. Funding - staff • All requested (named) staff – universities and STFC funded. • RHUL, UCL, Huddersfield staff joint collaoration. • ~ £ 100.000 of allocated funding p.a. will contribute to additional staff requested (engineering & technician). • Contract for 6 month engineering support by Alberto (Spain) signed.

  8. Funding - equipment • Annual funding of ~ £ 510.000 allows for equiptment spending of ~ £ 400.000 incl. VAT p.a. Final RFQ payment is not included, possible savings in MEBT under investigation. To early for further details.
