  3. EPI Candidates or 9591 Students Your field work evaluation form will be completed by your evaluating administrator. If you are a full - time teacher, you may complete your field experience hours in your own classroom.

  4. How do I make a Good Impression?

  5. You are interviewing for a teaching position from the moment you enter the doors of the host school! You will make important connections with numerous teachers and administrators in Flagler and Volusia counties. These professionals will make critical hiring decisions in the future and will contact our office for recommendations. Move quickly from the role of college student… To the role of future teacher as you work in the field.

  6. Quickly make contact with the person at your host school listed in your fieldwork record in FalconNet. Exhibit professionalism in your demeanor and attire. Do more than is required, Be proactive, Arrive early and stay late, Get to know the front office staff!

  7. Be Visible Ask your supervising teacher to allow you to take an active role in the learning environment of the classroom Be Motivated Volunteer

  8. Call your teacher immediately in the case of an illness or emergency that may cause you to be late or absent. Arrive early and on the days you agreed upon with your teacher.

  9. Your professor will provide you with a Syllabus Addendum to share with your supervising teacher. Spend time explaining your course requirements and evaluation forms to your supervising teacher or evaluating administrator prior to beginning your field experience each mini-semester. Discuss assignments and projects well before the due dates. Be prepared!

  10. If necessary, assist your supervising teacher with the electronic evaluation form submission process. HELP! HELP!

  11. Do not leave for breaks, lunch or personal errands during your field experience hours. Plan your time with your teacher and remain at the school during the time you have scheduled.

  12. If your field experience requires you to observe students not present in your supervising teacher’s classroom (ESE/ELL/K-2-3-5) 1. 3. You may have to move to another school for part of your field work hours 2. make arrangements to visit other classrooms where these students are present

  13. Value the time your teacher spends with you! Have a great attitude in the classroom, let the students and teachers know you are there because you want to be, not because it’s a requirement Be “present” while you are in the classroom; refrain from texting and phone use

  14. Use wisdom on social networking sites. Don’t friend students. Don’t post unprofessional pictures Get plenty of rest and arrive energized and ready to participate Make good choices outside of the classroom that will positively affect your field experience

  15. Consider changing your current email address to an address that is professional….. OR Blue Lake Elementary School Deland, FL, 32724 John Doe Sexyman78@gmail.com (May not get you a return e-mail or interview from an administrator.) use your FalconMail account exclusively when communicating with school personnel.

  16. School districts are small communities and school administrators network extensively with each other.

  17. If you are asked to leave a school due to poor performance you have reduced your chances of future employment when you complete the BSED orEPI program.

  18. I have to stay until 5:00??!!! What can I do to help?? Whom Would You Hire?
