  4. Kinetic Energy • Energy of matter in Motion • Kinetic energy of particles contributes to • the thermal energy of a substance

  5. Potential Energy • Energy an object has because of its position.

  6. Chemical Energy • Internal energy stored in the chemical bonds between atoms. it is a form of potential energy. Muscles use the stored chemical energy of food we eat and convert that to heat and energy of motion.

  7. Electromagnetic Energy • Energy that travels through space as waves.

  8. Electrical Energy • Energy of electrically charged particles moving from one place to another. • Electrons move from one atom to another in many chemical changes.

  9. Transforming Energy Other forms of energy may also be changed to chemical energy. • During a chemical change, chemical energy may be changed to other forms of energy.
