  7. Notebooks & Homework • CommonCore = Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity! • Assignments will include class activities, cumulative projects, and independent learning activities. • Homework will be assigned regularly, although it is usually what the students did not finish in class. • Most assignments will be pasted into a spiral notebook, placed in a 3-ring binder, or stapled into a packet, and turned in at the end of each unit of study. • Check your student’s agenda (or school loop) for assignments, due dates, and upcoming tests/ Quizzes

  8. Late Work Policy • District absent policy is followed (1 day= 2 days to make up) • If an assignment was given before an absence, it is due the day the student returns. • Check School Loop before coming back to class. • An “Absentee Homework Center” is in the classroom where students will look at the days he/she was absent, on Schoolloop.com, and collect the appropriate worksheets and assignments. • This the student’s responsibility to do!! • Late homework will only be accepted for TWO weeks after the due date, and for a partical credit.

  9. Tests & Assessments • Tests may be made up during lunch upon a student’s return. • If more than ONE week elapses, a zero will be entered in the grade book for that test. • If a student receives a failing grade on a test or quiz, the student has ONE week to re-take the test for a high score of a C-. I want your child to succeed!!  • No homework or tests can be made up if a student is truant.

  10. Grades • The grades for each quarter are weighted and categorized in the following categories: homework/participation (20%), Notebook/projects (35%), and assessments (45%). • Grades are always available and up to date on the School Loop. • ** At the quarter only, grade percentages will be rounded up to the nearest whole number percent (ex. 79.5% C+ would be rounded to an 80% B-)

  11. Attendance • Excellent attendance is extremely important! • Missed activities such as class discussions, videos, and group work = missed opportunities for learning. • It is the responsibility of the student to make up work and tests when they were absent. • Check the absent box and School Loop. • Check the Table of Contents in the classroom. • Ask a friend in your class!!

  12. Communication • Email is the best way to get in touch with me…I encourage it!!  • Website contains some documents, but not all. Students should visit the absent box for ALL handouts, notes, assignments, etc. • Absent Box ALL assignments are in the Absent Box in the front of the classroom. mcfallman@capousd.org
