  10. Negative Impact of Women’s Work • Uneducated & poor women working outside the home traditionally helped their family through agriculture and handicrafts. • What does a poor woman want? • What does a rich man want? • Rise of the sex industry in LDC?

  11. India’s Marriage Dowries • Dowry is a small gift from the family of the groom to the family of the bride. • Reversal of Dowry in India and expected to be larger. Why? • Emphasis on consumer goods in male dominated society. • Repercussions of unsatisfactory” dowries have been murder. • Aborted fetuses of females higher than males.
