  2. Medicine in Seljuks(11-13 th centuries) • Medicine philosophy and practice wasn’t different from the doctrines which were accepted by the Islam Civilizations in this time • The Hilt theory (humoral theory or 4 temperaments theory) is the most common approach

  3. Medicine in Seljuks The social dimension of medicine and the public health were important in Seljuks and institution-building came to the fore. To this end, some health care providers (Darüşşifalar) were established in Anatolia.

  4. Health Care Providers-Hospices (Darüşşifalar) • The first one was established by Alparslan in Nishapur • Malikshah established Bimaristan-ı Tutuşi in Baghdad • SelahaddinEyyubi in Cairo, Fustat and Akka • NureddinZengi established hospitals in Aleppo and Damascus.
