  1. STEADFAST TILL THE END “But my righteous one shall live by faith; And if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him. But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul” (Heb. 10:38-39)

  2. Hindrances To Perseverance • Rev. 2:10 • Many passages that tell us our journey is life long. • The heroes of faith all had courage to overcome. • A constant reminder to the 7 churches in Rev. 2 & 3

  3. Drifting • Heb. 2:1-5 • Israel during the Exodus – constantly looking back. “Why did we ever start this?” • Focus on the goal. A land “flowing with milk and honey.” • They never saw it. • Most apostasy results from drifting.

  4. Disillusionment • Heb. 3:12- 14 • People let us down. The path is more difficult than we imagined, etc. • Trust God. Trust God’s will and word. • Heb. 12:1f – look to Jesus. He doesn’t disappoint.

  5. Grow Stale • Heb. 6:1 • Same lifeless ritual. Not the church. Me! • You must see yourself moving toward a goal. • Am I a better servant today than 5 years ago? • Has He changed my life?

  6. Laziness • I don’t mean exhaustion. • Heb. 6:11-12 • Make a plan. • Work the plan. • Are the hardest obstacles internal or external?

  7. Isolation • Heb. 12:1-3 • It’s difficult in an area with few Christians or churches. • But some of the strongest Christians come from these areas. • We seek and appreciate others of “like precious faith.”

  8. Self-Pity • Heb. 12:4 • Times can be hard. Give yourself time to feel the pain. • Then move on.

  9. Misjudging God • Heb. 12:7 • Satan wants us to doubt God. • He slandered God in the Garden of Eden, and onward. • God doesn’t care, He doesn’t love you. • YOU must believe that God loves you and wants to make YOU (not the circumstances) better. • 2 Peter 1:5-7 – To produce something good. To become something good.
