  1. The Hungrys Brendan Doud Pd. 2 Prob/Stat CP Mr. Green

  2. Intro • I’ve interviewed 40 different students asking each of them how much they spend on lunch (on average) each day in school as we’ll as how much they spend (on average) during the weekend weekend. I’ve broken my data into a stem-and-leaf plot of all the data, as well as a stem-and-leaf and box-and-whisker plot comparing the amount spent by females to males, and amount spent at school to weekends.

  3. Stem-And-Leaf -These are all 80 values from my survey put together in a stem and leaf plot. Each value is rounded to the nearest dollar.

  4. Five-Number Summary -5 Number Summary: Min:0 Q1:2 Med:3 Q3:9 Max:20 -This is the five-number summary of all 80 values. Each value is rounded to the nearest dollar. The only outlier is 20.

  5. Stem and Leaf(by gender) This is the stem and leaf plot based on values by gender. Each value is rounded to the nearest dollar.

  6. Box-and-Whisker Plot(by gender) • I created a box and whisker plot to compare the amount of money spent on lunch by females and males. You can clearly see that males have a slightly higher price average when it comes to buying lunch with a range doubling the price of which girls spend.

  7. Stem and Leaf(School vs. Weekend) This is a stem and leaf plot comparing the price students pay for lunch at school to the price they pay for lunch on the weekend. Both female and male values are included in this plot. Each value is rounded to the nearest dollar.

  8. Box-and-Whisker(School vs. Weekend) • This box-and-whisker plot compares the amount of money males and females spend for lunch at school compared to how much they spend on the weekend. As you can see it is significantly higher on the weekends.

  9. Summary • By performing this experiment I’ve concluded that on average males tend to spend more money on lunch both in school and on weekends in comparison to females. I have also have come to the conclusion that both females and males tend to spend more on lunch on average during the weekend then they do in school. • Through out the whole experiment I believe that it is much easier to compare data using a box-and whisker plot then it is using a stem-and-leaf plot.
