IA Participation in NORAD-USNORTHCOM Joint Training Events • J7 plans and executes two major annual exercises each year: • Ardent Sentry • Vigilant Shield • And one additional major biennial exercise every year: • Northern Edge (odd years) • Amalgam Warrior (even years) • Additionally, J7 supports a variety of other exercises focused on the NORAD Regions, other COCOMs, Federal Agencies, and the Joint Staff • Plan/execute/participate in 20 – 24 total exercises per year • Most exercises involve the IA community • Three examples representing this year’s exercises:

IA Participation in NORAD-USNORTHCOM Joint Training Events ARDENT SENTRY AS-05 is the first exercise resulting from integration of the NORAD-USNORTHCOM Exercise Program with the DHS National Homeland Security Exercise Program • Odd years: • DHS “TOP OFFICIALS” Exercise lead - - supported by NORAD-USNORTHCOM and “ARDENT SENTRY” • Even years: N-N leads with “ARDENT SENTRY”- - supported by DHS

IA Participation in NORAD-USNORTHCOM Joint Training Events ARDENT SENTRY • Primary focus:Defense Support to CivilAuthorities • Secondary focus: Homeland Defense • Training Audiences: HQ NORAD/NORTHCOM and assigned units • Summary: • Deploys / employs JTF-CS in support of DHS-PFO-FCO-DCO T3 requests in Connecticut in a chemical scenario • Deploys / employs JTF-CM (E) and SJFHQ (N) in support of DHS-PFO-FCO-DCO T3 requests in New Jersey in a bio (pneumonic plague) scenario • Deploys / employs QRF to CT • Key Dates: (War game) 14-15 Dec 04, (FPC) 15-18 Feb 05, (Ex)4-10 APR 05 • Participants: Next two slides
