History • 2000- 1st Transition Night for Pinkerton families included: • Brought in parents of recent graduates to discuss their transition experience and recommendations for other parents just beginning their planning • Brought in Dafna Krouck Gordon from TILL • 2001- With parent feedback, we made some additions: • Created a panel made up of professionals from Area Agency, VR, Derry Community Health Services, and Social Security Administration. • 2002- Added Vendor Fair • Community Support Providers organizations who were approved by Area Agencies and Vocational Rehabilitation. • 2003- no major change • 2004- Same format- • Met with Patty Cotton from the Institute on Disabilities to discuss ways to improve the program.

History continued • 2005- With Patty’s input, the format was revised- • Explored collaborative relationship with other high school Special Education departments who were looking to improve outcomes for their students with developmental disabilities. Two schools joined the Collaborative which increased our funding to begin to add classes for parents: • Salem HS • Timberlane HS • Introduced parents to five-part training called SPECIFIC PLANNING ENCOURAGES CREATIVE SOLUTIONS (SPECS) which was being offered for the first time by Patty Cotton from UNH-IOD and Leslie Boggis from Gateways Area Agency in Nashua • Encouraged families to use Person-centered Planning as a planning tool • Encouraged school personnel to use person-centered planning mapping techniques to help individuals identify their likes, dislikes, strengths, etc. • 2006 • Added Pelham HS and Londonderry HS to the collaborative • Vendor participation continued to grow • Expanded SPECS class from five to six classes

History continued • 2007 • Added Creative Finance class • 2008 • Added Windham HS • Added Creating Your Own Micro-Enterprise with Doreen Rosimos from Income Links, LLC • Offered In-Service training from administration and Special Education staff • Vendor participation grows to over 30 businesses • 2010 • Expanded micro-enterprise training to half-day training • Working on adding to create mini-grants ($300) which families can apply to receive and ultimately create their own business model with Doreen’s assistance. • Offered 17 different events during the school year
