  2. Romanian NGO sector • 30 000 registered NGOs • 6 000 active NGOs according with CSDF data base • 20 NGOs with interest in international development cooperation

  3. MFA cooperation with NGOs • In 2004 Romanian MFA started the consultations with NGOs and institutions for drafting the development cooperation strategy • Possibilities to comment the policy documents and participate on the shaping of the policy

  4. Development Cooperation Strategy • October 2004 - Department of International Economic organizations (MFA) elaborate the DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION STRATEGY • This document is subject to debating and consultation of the Task Force and the appropriate institutions

  5. Strategic goal • The strategic goal of the Romanian development cooperation policy is contributing to the raise of the standard of life in the developing countries, which will benefit from the Romanian help.

  6. The authorities implementing the development cooperation will set up relations with the NGOs involved in the assistance activity in the benefice of the developing or transforming countries. The NGOs will be eligible for granting funds – as subsidies – for financing the assistance programs.
