My back was aching and I just wanted to be far away… I looked out of the window. I saw a man picking his nose while his wife looked on in disgust. Radio 1 was jangling in the background…

Lots of loud voices could be heard and there was a hush of expectation as the players emerged…. It started with a roar. I could feel the vibrations in my stomach. This was it. The smell of beer and hot dogs fuelled my hunger for the match…

Rooster were about to take the stage. The noise of the amplifiers growled like lions about to take their prey… Noise bled through the amplifiers. I could feel the thud of drums like an extra heart-beat. The day had been ripped open by the hellish marriage of string and vocals. This was heaven!
