    3. What is needed for Petrochemical development in Iran: 1.Finance 2.Knowledge These factors are available via international joint venturing This study is for identifying the barriers and opportunities focusing on international joint venture in petrochemical industry of Iran. 3

    4. Sub-objectives: The sub-objectives of this project are: To find out the factors affecting the success and failure of joint venture projects. To conduct a survey to gather the lessons learned in international joint venture in petrochemical industry of Iran, focusing on two successful cases. 4

    5. Literature review: literature review has been done in four area of International joint venture: 5 Joint ventures and stability: Factors Affecting Joint Ventures: Control and Management of Joint Ventures: Learning and Knowledge Transfer in Joint Ventures: More than 30 article has been reviewed in this part.

    6. Interviews: Then more than 20 mangers of these two successful joint ventures are interviewed bases on finding from literature review to find out their “lessons learned” and the “advantage” and “disadvantage” of joint venture for Iranian petrochemical industry. Three following quiestions have been asked: As an expert in a successful international joint venture in petrochemical industry in Iran, what are the main lessons learned which could be useful and applicable in future joint ventures? What are the advantages of international joint ventures for Iranian petrochemical industry? What are the disadvantages of international joint ventures for Iranian petrochemical industry? 6

    8. Main research: A short history about International Joint Venture of National Petrochemical Company (NPC). Review of Two Successful JV Petrochemical Projects in Iran: Arya Sasol Polymer Company. Mehr Petrochemical Company. 8

    9. Questionnaire: 9 Based on information gather via literature review and interviews a questionnaire designed to validate the data Two petrochemical international joint venture: Aryasasol polymer company and Mehr petrochemical company selected for distribution of the questionnaire.

    11. Validation: 34 numbers of questionnaire are filled by experts and software SPSS is used for validation of information gathered . Also all other learning of the expert how filled the questionnaires have been gathered and listed in the research. Additionally following information are listed in the final projects as findings of the research: 1. Guidelines for Better Performance of JVs. 2. Guidelines for motivate international JVs in Iran. 11
