  2. Population/Ethnic facts • The population of Italy is 58,090,681. • The men life expectancy is 78 years. • The Women life expectancy is 84 years. • Italy covers over 301,338 Sq. Km.

  3. Population Facts/ Ethnic cont. • It is the 4th most popular county in Europe. • It is 23 most popular in the world. • In the end of year 2008 the population surpassed 60 million.

  5. Language • Its official language is Italian. • 120 to 150 Italians use Italian as the second or most spoken language. • It has retained the contrast between short and long consonants.

  6. Language cont. • Italian is considered to be the most closest to Latin in terms of vocabulary • It has numerous languages spoken all over. • Evan in Italy some people don’t know Italian. • But in adding the educational system the decrease in not knowing Italian has gone down.

  7. Religion • 90% is roman catholic • 10% includes mature protestants and Jewish communities and a growing Muslim immigrant community • Most beleve in god or some spritual life force.

  8. Religion cont. • Roman catholic is the most common religion. • 75% said that they believe in god. • 16% said they believed in some sort of spritual being or force. • ^% said they don’t believe in god.

Interpersonal relation/greeting/ gestures. • They use the phone and internet and a lot of the same things we do. • When men and women meet they shake hands. • Close friends greet each other with a hug or a kiss in each cheek. • They say hi, good bye, good evening, good night and other says. • They cover their months when yawning or sneezing.

  16. Rites of passage (dating and marrage) • In dating you go in groups or as couples. • Dancing and going to the movies are common dating places • Women usually marry at the age 26 and the men 29. • A man rarely marries before finishing his education and found employment.

  19. Food • At breakfast they have a cup of coffee or cppuccino, for younger children warm milk, A cream filled croissant or bread with jam or honey. • The main meals are 3 courses long. • Pasta, fish or meat, and vegetables. • Pasta is very popular in Italy.

  20. Food cont. • Wine is commonly served at meals, also used with cooking. • They have pizza but it is different compared to the US pizza. • Spaghetti and meatballs are not a common food they eat. • Italians enjoys hundreds of different cheeses.

  22. clothing • Italians take clothing very serously • They will dress nicely just for an evening stroll. • They very rarely wear dirty, worn, and sloppy cloths. • Youth follow the latest fashion treads. • Older women wear dresses.

  23. Clothing cont. • Elegance is in there blood. • Most will give up comfort just to look pretty. • It is a nation that cherishes outward appearances. • They like fashion more than you good heart.

  25. Sports and recreation • Hobbies, vacations, and recreation is an important priority. • Italians go to the beach, countryside, movies, dances, or sporting events. • Soccer would be the most popular sport in Italy. • Italy has won the world cup four times.

  28. Arts • Italy has been the center and birthplace for many artwork. • A lot of famous artst are from Italy. • They came up with the arch, dome, and to build things larger. • Museums that hold some very famous artwork.
