  21. Schools Redistricting Proposals for Board consideration Grandfather rising 6th graders to their current schools Not separate siblings when grandfathering rising 6th graders Once the redistricting plans are finalized, any elementary student who is out of district must reapply for a student transfer. Students given option for “School of Choice” (2004-2005) under No Child Left Behind guidelines may remain at that school Additional Information Bus routes made available in spring Teachers and staff for each school determined by Human Resources (process begins in early 2009) Final district lines submitted to Catawba Geospatial Information Services (GIS)

  22. Possible Adjustments Based upon comments and written feedback

  23. Considerations Used for Proposal • Any line change in one area will necessitate a shift somewhere else. • Any adjustments must allow room for growth at all schools. • All elementary schools should be around 90% capacity • Any adjustments should not push a school over its established capacity. • Not all people will be satisfied. • Line changes will be based upon: • Original goals (slide 2) • School capacity • Best for ALL students
