  6. Request a Meeting with an APA Comfort Specialist If you are building a new home or addition, you have a unique opportunity to get the right cooling (or combined heating and cooling) system the first time, with no regrets later on. What’s the first step? Simply contact APA and request an in-person consultation with one of our Comfort Specialists, someone you can depend on to guide you toward making all the right decisions, every step of the way. For your added peace of mind, APA services and repairs everything we install. Air source heat pump. Air source heat pumps are electrically operated and use the difference in temperature between inside and outside your home to heat and cool it. This process takes the place of burning fossil fuels which leads to significant reductions in energy consumption and lower energy costs. Hydro-air system. This is another combination heating and cooling system. It includes a hot water boiler to provide heat by sending hot water from the boiler to an air handler which then distributes warm air into your home. The same air handler includes cooling coils to provide cool air during the warm-weather months.

  7. Ductless Air Applications Ductless air systems – also called wall-mounted or mini-split systems – can work alone or in tandem with existing heating and cooling systems. Let’s say, for example, that your upstairs living area is usually hotter and more humid in the summer than the downstairs area. Instead of redoing or replacing your entire AC system, consider adding a ductless unit upstairs to pick up where central air leaves off.

  8. More Benefits of a Ductless Air System • Unparalleled Efficiency: Ductwork is prone to cracks and leaks which reduces the efficiency of central and forced air systems. No ducts, by comparison, means greater efficiency. In fact, advanced technology helps ductless systems reach efficiencies up to 30 SEER. • Quiet, Remote Control Operation: You won’t hear your ductless system, but you’ll feel the cool or warm air it provides. What’s more, you can adjust temperature settings without getting up, thanks to remote control operation. 3. Ease of Installation: Installing a ductless unit is quick and easy, and the whole process is usually completed in a single day.

  9. Another Way to Fight Indoor Air Pollution. Your air conditioning system’s indoor coil is part of what cools your home, but it also has a way of attracting and nurturing mold and bacteria which thrive in dark, damp environments. Ultraviolet light kills bacteria and mold growing on your indoor coil before they are circulated throughout your home. UV lamps are installed near your existing indoor coil and work diligently to rid your home of the bacteria, viruses, mold, and germs that impact your home’s health. We install 1 or 2 lights per indoor coil, depending on the size of the coil. UV lamps also help improve the efficiency of your AC system which, in turn, means lower utility costs and longer system lifespan. It’s another indoor air quality solution from Air Professional Associates, and one we’d be happy to tell you more about.
