Explanation: HIDA rim sign - tracer uptake seen in the region of the superior aspect of the gallbladder along the fossa / liver. It is highly specific with high predictive value for late acute cholecystitis and is suggestive of imminent complications such as hemorrhage, necrosis of wall, ulceration, necrosis, fibrous exudation, perforation, empyema, or gangrene.
