History • Marijuana has been around as early as 2900 BC referenced by Chinese Emperor Fu as Ma (Cannabis) • Marijuana boomed when our troops returned back from the Vietnam War • 1964- THC, Main Psychoactive Component of Cannabis, First Identified and Synthesized by • Dr. Raphael Mechoulam • Nov. 5, 1996 - California Becomes First State to Legalize Medical Marijuana • 1968 - University of Mississippi Becomes Official Grower of Marijuana for Federal Government • Nov. 5, 1991 - First Medical Marijuana Initiative Passed in San Francisco with an overwhelming 79% of the votes

Current Uses • Marijuana is used to help prevent nausea and vomiting for cancer patients. • It increases appetite, relieves pain, and improves sleep for such patients. • Marijuana can help prevent blindness. • Lab rats with tumors are exposed to cannabis and they show positive results for depleting tumors.
