  2. Exposition • Introduces the story’s characters, setting, and situation.

  3. Narrative Hook • The point in the story where the author catches the reader’s attention by presenting an interesting problem or solution.

  4. Rising Action • The part of the plot that adds complications to the plot’s problems and increases reader interest.

  5. Conflict • A struggle between two opposing forces. A) External Conflict-character vs. character, character vs. nature, character vs. society B) internal conflict- Character vs. Himself, ie. Decision-making

  6. Climax • The point of greatest emotional intensity, interest, or suspense in the story. The turning point.

  7. Falling Action • The action that follows the climax and cleans up loose ends in the story.

  8. Resolution • This presents or reveals the final outcome of the conflict.
