  1. Carbonated Beverages India – The Soft Drink Industry of India Carbonated beverages are those beverages which bubble and fizzes with dissolved carbon dioxide gas in it. The process by which the gas dissolves in the drink is called carbonation. The carbonated beverages in India are segmented into cola-flavored drinks, lime-lemon flavored drinks, orange flavored drinks and other such as diet drink, energy drink, frozen carbonated beverage, soft drink etc. Carbonated beverages contained dissolved carbon dioxide. The dissolution of this carbon dioxide in a liquid, give rise to fizz. In this process, the carbon dioxide is added under very high pressure and when this pressure is removed then the carbon dioxide gas starts releasing from the solution in the form of bubbles which causes the solution to become effervescence. Here effervescence can be defined as the higher gas pressure and low temperature cause more gas to dissolve in the liquid and when this temperature starts rising and pressure starts reducing then carbon dioxide start escaping from the solution in the form of bubbles. Generally, carbonated beverages are prepared by mixing a chilled flavored syrup or dry ingredient with chilled carbonated water. Carbonated water can be made by three processes. The first process is, by using a soda siphon, the second process is, by home carbonation system and the third process is, by dropping the dry ice into water. Soft drinks are also carbonated beverage which mainly contains water but not always carbonated water, generally, a sweetener or a flavoring agent and that sweetener can be sugar, fruit juice, sugar substitutes, high-fructose, syrup or some combination of these. Carbonated beverages also contain caffeine, colorings, preservative and other ingredients. When you choose carbonated beverages that has no sweeteners or calories, bubbly water, which is a liver- friendly and a substitute for soda then it harms the liver. When the water is dissolved with carbon dioxide gas under high pressure then it makes a bubbly drink and that bubbly drink is also known as sparkling water. That Sparkling water contains tooth enamel and carbonated water can have an effect on tooth enamel when water is carbonated, carbonic acid forms, which lowers its ph. While researchers found that in women cola beverages were associated with low bone mineral density but other carbonated beverages in India did not have this effect because the cola beverages contain phosphorus, which increases the loss of calcium from the body through the kidneys. So we should not choose carbonated beverages all the time. Source: Carbonated Beverages India – The Soft Drink Industry of India
