  1. Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District Palomino Valley GID Water Sources

  2. Suppression Water Sources • 2 Locations authorized for TMFPD use: • SR445 (Pyramid Hwy) and Ironwood Road • Located across the Horse Corral. • 5105 Wayside Drive (PVGID yard) • Take Whiskey Springs road about two miles from SR445 to Grass Valley road (just past the BLM Station). Turn left on Grass Valley road and Wayside drive is about ¼ mile on the right.

  3. Suppression Water Sources • SR445 and Ironwood Road

  4. Suppression Water Sources • 5105 Wayside Drive

  5. SR445 and Ironwood Road Water Source Gates are equipped with TMFPD combination locks intermingled with PVGID pad locks Operation Overview: Caution: make sure that you have the correct valves on the fill pipes at this location open and/or closed or you could get VERY wet. If you are filling a Water Tender that has a top fill hatch and have a spotter to help getting under the overhead fill, you may consider using the overhead fill pipe. This location makes about 390 GPM. There are two gate valves on the fill tower. The upper valve controls the overhead fill and the lower controls the 2.5” hose connection. To fill by hose you must make sure the upper valve is off and lower valve to hose connection is at least partially open before starting the well. Mounted on the block wall by the fill pipe is a controller switch that starts the generator which in turn powers the well. Approximately 1 minute after the generator starts the well will turn on. Once filled, turn the electric switch back to off. The well will shut down but the generator will run for a cool down cycle then will automatically shut down.

  6. SR445 and Ironwood Road Water Source This site has two gates; one for entry and one for exiting. Enter Ironwood road fill site from the East gate so your control panel is close to the fill valves.

  7. SR445 and Ironwood Road Water Source • Make sure upper valve is off and lower valve is partially open. Connect fill hose to the LOWER valve and to your apparatus. Open intake valve on apparatus.

  8. SR445 and Ironwood Road Water Source Turn control switch to “on” and push the “reset” button. This turns the generator on and the well pump will come on within about 1 minute.

  9. SR445 and Ironwood Road Water Source • Regulate the fill valve as required for filling. This well produces 390 GPM. It is OK to create some back pressure on the well to regulate your water flow but try to avoid deadheading the water flow completely. • Once your apparatus is filled turn the control switch to the “off” position. The well will shut off and generator will shut down automatically after a cool down period. • Disconnect hoses.

  10. SR445 and Ironwood Road Water Source • Other Well equipment at the Ironwood site. • Do not do anything with any of this other equipment at the site.

  11. 5105 Wayside Drive Water Source This water supply to the tank is controlled automatically and all you need to do is hook up to the 2.5” connection and open/close the ball valve

  12. Helo Dip Sites Helo dip sites could also be established at both fill locations, but the Wayside Dr. location should be considered first because it is away from public roads and the water system is controlled automatically. Hose lines could be stretched from the water fill connections at each site to a remote dip site if there are personnel to stay at the sites to keep the tanks filled.
