  1. SPORTING ACHIEVEMENT ASSEMBLY 2013-2014

  2. ALFIE ASKEW Alfie can always be found outside in the foundation play area, either playing with balls, riding the bikes or climbing. He is so strong he is able to ride the chariot bikes with more than one child on the back. Alfie loves a variety of sporting activities and is able to catch, throw and kick a large ball. He is also beginning to throw accurately at or into a target and beginning to demonstrate signs of being competitive. Maybe afuture Johnny Wilkinson??

  3. KELSIE BOLLINGTON Kelsie tries hard in all physical activities. She loves P.E. especially the apparatus where she is able to balance along a beam and jumps off a trestle landing safely. Outside in the foundation play area, Kelsie likes to play with the balls, bats and hoops with her peers. She is able to take turns and understands how to play fairly, an important quality for future sporting achievements. Well done Kelsie!

  4. L’WREN WILSON L’wren is fantastic at PE. She works hard in a team and encourages and helps her friends. She always has a go, and even when she finds something a little tricky, she will keep trying until she has mastered it. She has super balance, and always tried to find different ways of travelling along the benches and jumping off the platforms. She showed some amazing jumps off the platforms pretending to be a kangaroo! She is fearless, and isn’t afraid of a challenge which is a brilliant quality to have. Well done L’wren!

  5. KAREEM FARAG Kareem has been chosen for the sporting achievement award because of his consistent hard work. He always perseveres and makes a huge effort to improve his skills across the PE curriculum. He is a great team member. This is a photograph of Kareem on Sport Relief Day. He ran the whole course without stopping showing determination and stamina. Wow!

  6. MORGAN RILEY • Morgan has demonstrated excellent skills within PE throughout the year, both as a team player and as an individual. She works hard and puts in a lot of practise to enable her to compete and play at the best of her ability. Morgan also understands the importance of taking part and will support and encourage her team. She has also been fantastic at demonstrating PE skills to others, enabling them to develop following her example.

  7. LUCAS WALTON Lucas has always enjoyed PE but not always been confident at it. This has changed and Lucas is becoming more adept at moving with good coordination and balance. This struck us when we saw him shimmy up the apparatus earlier on in the year! Lucas is a true sportsman; he tries his best, works hard for his team and now enjoys being active (well most of the time!)

  8. JORDANA WOOD • This year Jordana has stood out for the exceptional effort that she has given in every area of the PE curriculum. She participates and tries her very best in whatever she is doing, always listening carefully to instructions and putting into practise what she has been taught. She is creative and agile in gymnastics, a great team player and quick on her feet too. She has made fantastic progress and has proved herself to be a good all-rounder. Jordana is a great sports role model.

  9. JOSEF DECAUX I have been very impressed with the effort and enthusiasm Josef has shown during swimming lessons this year. He has become a very confident swimmer and he continues to work hard to improve his technique both on his front and back. He has also particularly enjoyed the opportunities he has had to swim in the big pool alongside his group.

  10. JADE HORNER Jade is someone who has really stood out to the adults in P.E this year because of her amazing dedication and try-hard attitude; always putting 100% effort into every activity she takes part in never satisfied unless she has tried her very best! This wonderful attitude was especially noticed in Athletics; in which Jade really shone in the javelin, after-school football and the Year 4 Running Club where Jade continued to try and improve her skills whilst showing brilliant sportsmanship to those she worked closely with. Well done Jade!

  11. OLIVER SLOAN Oliver is an outstanding sports person who has represented the school on many occasions this year and I am sure he will continue to do so during his time at Arnold Mill. Oliver has taken part in an athletics competition, tennis tournament and football match and he was chosen to do so not just for his fantastic ability but also the ability to work as part of a team. He always offers encouragement to his team mates, celebrates their successes and clearly enjoys all aspects of sport. I hope to see you on the school football team next year Oliver just to see your goal celebrations! Well done on your achievements in sport this year Oliver.

  12. KACI RILEY • Kaci has consistently performed well in all PE lessons this year, demonstrating excellent effort and engagement. Kaci has participated in a Year 4/5 cricket tournament and also been a key member of the girl’s football team. In football, the girls won the Gedling League Playoffs, and went on to be crowned the Gedling League champions! Well done Kaci. You have been chosen not only for your incredible talent, but also your amazing sport’s woman attitude.

  13. ALEX POWDITCH Finally, Alex has taken part in all PE activities with a smile on his face, determination to do his best and a sense of humour which carried him through the worst of the British weather!! The person I would like to nominate for the Sporting Achievement Award in 2E is Alex Powditch, (who perhaps will be surprised by this) and these are the reasons why:Firstly, most children worked well in Gymnastics when we used the large apparatus, but Alex created some fantastic sequences which were not only interesting but also used the apparatus to great effect. At times, he really challenged himself and as a result wowed both myself and Mr Darby with his innovative ideas and imaginative composition. Secondly, Alex was a fabulous hockey player and when he took on Mr Armour and Mrs James, he regularly beat them with his speed and skill. This year, Alex has represented school in the swimming, tag rugby running and in the Sports hall athletics teams and in all of these competitions, he knew that whilst winning was important, he also recognised that taking part and setting high standards of school representation was important too.

  14. DEVIN MOORE Devin has impressed all the adults that have worked with him in PE this year for a number of reasons. Devin has always tried his best, and when things have been new or difficult he has never given up, showing strong perseverance and working hard to achieve his very best. In May Devin represented the school at a Boccia competition and was a key member of the winning team. Well done Devin, it has been a pleasure seeing you develop in all areas of PE.
