  1. Future of Space Exploration Lance Justin Jordan Jay Dylan

  2. What is the spaceship 1? What was special about this program? The spaceship 1 was the first private manned vehicle to go beyond the earth’s atmosphere and reach an altitude of 328, 491 feet. It was the first time that a civilian flew out of the atmosphere and earned astronaut’s wings. This proved that space flight doesn’t need huge money nor government involvement to be successful.

  3. Why is the X-prize awarded? What will be the jobs of X-prize vehicles? • The X-prize is awarded to someone who privately finances, build, launches a spaceship able to carry 3 people to 100 km and return safely. This would have to be repeated within 2 weeks. X-prize vehicles would be used in space tourism, low cost satellite launching, same day package delivery, ‘point to point’ passenger travel.

  4. How is the suborbital spacecraft different? Who built it? What are its benefits? • This vehicle is different because it is launched out of the ocean. As it is launched a large underwater bubble is created. It was built by a group of retired NASA workers. It is a cheaper reusable spacecraft.

  5. What is Arca? Where is it built? Why is it special? • ARCA is a private, reusable commercial spacecraft built in Romania. ARCA is special because its fuel emissions are oxygen and water, thus having no negative effective on the environment.

  6. Describe the space cab, spacebus, and space plane. • The space cab is going to be used to transport people to a space hotel. The space bus is larger space cab used to transport more people. The space plane would take off from a normal airstrip, fly to 5 miles, where rocket engines ignite bringing passengers briefly into space for 30 minutes and return to earth.

  7. How is the Arrow similar to Mercury Space Program? • The Arrow is similar to Mercury because it launches from a traditional launch pad, it has 2 stages, part of the re-usable rocket falls away returning to earth. The people return to earth in a small capsule with landing.

  8. How does the Dacvinci project get people into space? How is the Lucky Seven different? • The Davinci program sends a hot air balloon 15 miles • balloon’s rocket will propel the balloon into space • Lucky Seven is different because it launches with rockets right from the ground.

  9. Describe starship 2040 and its plan for the future. • Part air plane part cruise ship • On display at Marshall space flight center • Small crew, ship run by mostly computers • Computers will even steer the ship • Snack bar , bathroom needed due to long flight • Scheduled to fly around 40 years from now.

  10. Describe the America's space prize. How is it different from the Ansari X prize? America’s space prize is $50,000,000. Ansari x’s prize is $10,000,000.

  11. What are NASA's plans for 2005? • NASA’s plans for 2005 are • To launch a spacecraft into space. • To send another spacecraft to Mars. • To develop the tools needed to explore Earth, the moon, Mars and beyond.
