  • What do you notice about the second copper strip?
  • Is it still copper?
    • Yes and no!
  • It is copper that has reacted with weak acids and is now covered with copper chloride and copper sulfate
  • Reactivity with an acid is a CHEMICAL PROPERTY.
  • In order to witness copper’s REACTIVITY WITH AN ACID, the chemical makeup of the copper had to be changed.
    • No longer just a copper sheet!
