Minutes from 19 OCT BOD meeting Attendees: VADM Nyquist, USN (Ret) CAPT Winton Smith, USN (CO, NBSD) CAPT Pat Garrett USN (Ret) CAPT Pat Marvel USN (Ret) CAPT James Matlock USN (Ret) CAPT Robert Goff USN (Ret) CDR Pat Witherspoon, USN (XO of Naval base San Diego) CMC Mendus, USN (CMC of Naval base San Diego) QM1 Oquendo, USN (NBSD) 1. Membership: - How is membership given at time of commissioning? SNA National handles all new commissioning and makes available to local chapter (per Debbie Gary). - Chapter leadership will send Welcome ltrs & remind members of impending expiration *** ACTION: CAPT Smith 2. Old Business A. 22 Nov: CNSP Holiday Party: Supported with $3000 from National B. 6 Dec: Holiday Ship Lighting event: Itinerary, route, message announcement, and invitations are completed. - Chapter support with matching funds for trophies and hors de ‘oeuvres at social. Venue booked. **ACTION: Generate funds request for trophies – XO ** ACTION: NBSD coordinating with CNSP, CNRSW, and SNA – in progress

Minutes from last BOD meeting continued C. 7 Dec: Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day: Speakers are VADM Nyquist and Vince O’Hara **ACTION: XO to generate message **ACTION: Coordinators, CDR Rich LeBron and ENS Martin (USS BENFOLD), will provide event plan. D. Coast Guard Cutterman event: Moved to the spring E. QM1 Oquendo volunteered to be webmaster for Chapter page. F. Concern was raised that the Chapter needs to get back to sponsoring SNA socials and membership drives instead of supporting Officer only events. Retirees should be invited to 22 Nov event. Completed. G. Add 5K run down Harbor Drive as a spring event. Sign up and get mug or T-shirt. Use industry sponsors who are SNA members to fund. H. Generate new board members from the waterfront. ENS Black (new PAO), XO & ENS from BENFOLD. I. 17 Feb 12: CNSF SOY Awards Dinner **ACTION: CMDCM Mendus/Rick Rushton to coordinate SNA SOY and Spouse Reception (one week prior to Awards Dinner) ** ACTION: CAPT Smith obtain dates from CNSP COS to lock in Hotel del Coronado -- done 6
