Objectives • To create a Net of professionals and institutions who are working on research, epidemiology diagnosis and control of ticks and tick-borne diseases in Latin America and The Caribean. • Allow interaction among net members and exchange of updated Information. • Facilitate participation and discussion about one o more relevant themes through annual electronic confereces

  4. “Network on Ticks & T.B. diseases for Latin America and The Caribbean” It was established in mid 1999 as a joint effort of FAO and CORPOICA (Corporación Colombiana de Investigación Agropecuaria) and is coordinated by Efraín Benavides O. DMV., MSc., PhD. The agreement was renovated in 2001, 2003 and 2005 The Network, through the web site offers to members and visitors information (in Spanish) on the people, who at the regional level, is involved in this subject, events and links, as well as an electronic bulletin and an electronic conference. Members receive automatically related news.

  16. Garrapatas Duras y Blandas • Las garrapatas se dividen en dos familias: Ixodidae o garrapatas duras y Argasidae o garrapatas blandas • La familia ixodidae esta representada por los géneros Amblyomma, Boophilus, Dermacentor (Anocentor), Haemaphisalis, Ixodes y Rhipicephalus.
