Payments for lunch can be made online or by sending cash or check sent to school with your child's name and the amount. You are welcome to join your student for lunch. If you can let me know ahead of time I will make sure they don't purchase a school lunch. Remember other students are not able to join you and your child for lunch. Please also include a change of clothes in your student’s backpack for spills or accidents.

  7. Snack We do have a quick snack time each afternoon. If you would like your child to have a snack please send a snack that is not messy to eat and doesn't require a spoon. (Ex. pretzels, crackers, granola bar, fruit snack). We are often multitasking and working while we snack. Your child may bring a water bottle to school. Please consider a bottle with a sport cap. Please label the bottle with your child's name.

  8. Birthdays Birthdays are a special time at Wildwood! Parents may provide store bought items such as cookies, cupcakes or donuts. Birthday treats will be enjoyed at snack time in our classroom. Birthday party invitations can be passed out at school if the entire class is invited or if the party is all boys or all girls in the class. Thank you for helping make sure that no child feel excluded!

  9. Specials Your student’s Specials time is when they attend PE, Music, or Art enrichment with our amazing Specials teachers. Please try to have your child in shoes they can run and play in, even if they are not going to PE they will still have recess time! The Specials Schedule is on our class webpage and we also note the Block and Week for you to reference on the Week at a Glance.

  10. Conduct Conduct will be sent through Home Access Center. You will receive an email when your child's teacher has added a comment regarding your student's behavior, positives and things to work on!

  11. Absences Please send a written note for the office within 2 days of your child's absence. If you know ahead of time that your child will be leaving early, arriving late or be absent please e-mail me or send a note with your student to let me know this way I can try to take care of any important curriculum before they leave.

  12. First Grade Reading Expectations We will individually testing each nine weeks to record your child’s reading level. The best thing you can do is read to and with your child each evening! Even just ten to twenty minutes a day dramatically increases your young reader’s fluency, decoding and comprehension skills.

  13. First Grade Reading Expectations- Sight Words Sight words are words known instantly or "on sight". No sounding out or pausing to think. We incorporate first grade sight words during our reading and writing lessons. Practice 5-7 words at a time. When they are mastered, choose 5-7 more. Feel free to make it fun! Tons of ideas online! Revisit the old words to be sure they are still memorized! Sight words will be assessed at the end of each nine weeks as part of your student’s Reading grade. A copy of the sight words is provided in the Red Daily Folder.

  14. Math Expectations Counting forwards and backwards (including skip counting from any number up to 120) Place Value to build a number to 120 Addition and Subtraction within 20 Money- identifying and counting collections of coins Geometry and Fractions ½ and ¼ Measurement and Data and Graphs oh my! Hands on!

  15. Conferences Please be on the lookout for an e-mail from me to schedule our Parent Teacher Conference for October. Time slots will be available in the afternoon and early evening. At our conference, we will discuss your student's academic progress, expectations and behavior. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please try to send them to me ahead of time so that I can prepare to share any answers at our meeting.
