  2. Multi-Disciplinary Approach(Academic Departments)

  3. ProjectGoals Integrate research, network infrastructure development and education & outreach in a Physics Learning Center: • High-energy physics research at the CMS experiment at CERN • Outreach activity based on CMS research, GRID, CI • Develop networking and Grid infrastructure to access resources from South America • Science and math education reform through pedagogic enhancements and teacher training

  4. ProjectImpacts • STEM majors • Unique multi-university, multi-disciplinary collaboration • Physics impacts: hardware, software, infrastructure, analysis • International: Brazilian researchers, FIU students • Infrastructure: International Cyberinfrastructure, national partnerships, local (even classroom!) • Outreach: High school students, teachers, administrators • Teaching reforms: introductory (modeling), advanced • Leveraging: AMPATH, WHREN-LILA, PhysTec, OSG, DISUN,UltraLight, QuarkNet, …

  5. Number of Physics Majors / Degrees Official declared and intended physics majors / Graduates • Majors 3-yr Average: • up 2.4x since early 90’s • Grads 3-yr Average: • Up 4.0x since early 90’s • All Fellow Graduates in Graduate School • Increased Participation by Underrepresented Groups Attributed to CHEPREO + associated departmental reform

  6. Teacher Participation Teacher Participation Over 80 HS Teachers Literally impacts thousands of students
