  2. Who was the President? • William Howard Taft was the President of the United States.

  3. 2010 • Barack Obama is our president.

  4. How much was a stamp? • A Postage stamp cost two cents.

  5. 2010 • Today a stamp cost forty-four cents.

  6. American Flag • The American flag had only 46 stars. Arizona, New Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska had not been admitted as states yet.

  7. 2010 • Our flag has 50 stars.

  8. School Teachers had to sweep the floor every day and start a fire in the schoolhouse every morning so the room would be warm when the children arrived.

  9. 2010 • We have modern schools with heat and custodians to help keep our school clean.

  10. School Supplies • There was no Scotch tape or magic markers. Crayons only came in 8 different colors.

  11. 2010 • Today there are over 100 different colors of crayons, and multi-colored tape.

  12. Bathtubs • Only 14% of the population had bathtubs. Most people only washed their hair once a month and they used Borax or egg whites for shampoo.

  13. 2010 • Homes have a bath and a shower. Some homes have more than on bathroom.

  14. Cars • Henry Ford sold 10,000 Model T cars. This was the first car that was mass-produced for the public to buy.

  15. 2010 • Ford is currently the fourth-largest automaker in the world based on number of vehicles sold annually.

  16. Baseball • The Philadelphia A’s beat the Chicago Cubs in the World series 4-1.

  17. 2010 We hope our beloved Red Sox will win the 2010 World Series- Go Sox!

  18. Comets • On April 20th, 1910, Halley’s Comet was visible from earth.

  19. 2010 • No comet this year. Halley’s Comet only comes every 75-76 years. This comet was last seen in 1986. Look for it again in the year 2061.

  20. Boy Scouts • The first boy scout meeting was held as Boy Scouts of America was incorporated on February 8th.

  21. Kinetophone • Thomas Edison invented the Kinetophone which made talking pictures a reality.
